The Awaba Advance Football Centre was buzzing with excitement on Saturday, March 4th as girls teams from across the region gathered to compete in the Lake Mac Women’s Sport Festival. South Cardiff, Barnsley, Tilligerry, Maryland Fletcher, Garden Suburb, Wallsend, and Maitland were all represented in the U/12, U/13, and U/14 age categories, showcasing some of the finest female talent in the area.
The event focused on futsal, a fast-paced and skillful version of football played with 5 players on the field – 4 outfield players and a goalkeeper. All games were refereed by the South Cardiff Community’s own young and talented referees, ensuring a fair and enjoyable competition for all involved.

Despite the hot weather, the girls showed promising skills and enthusiasm for the game, setting the tone for another wonderful season of football. Spectators were treated to some truly impressive play, as the teams battled it out for victory.

Congratulations to all the players, referees, and volunteers involved in making this event a fantastic celebration of female talent on the futsal field.
